Fine Motor Coordination Activities

 Fine motor coordination involves the movement of small, distal muscle groups
in the fingers and eyes. It also includes dexterity, control and accuracy,
eye-tracking and eye-hand coordination skills.

Activities to improve fine motor skills include:

Using manipulatives such as pegs, beads and coins

Eye tracking activities

Tracing and copying images

Mazes and dot-to-dots

Target games, velcro toss, ring toss etc.

Scissor Skills

Ball Skills



To develop the muscles in the hand try some of the following:

Sort small objects--buttons, keys, paper clips, goldfish crackers etc.

Use tweezers to pick up small objects

Use trigger spray bottles for water play

Turn over playing cards, poker chips, keys in your hand

Use a paper punch to create pictures, cards etc.

Practice snapping your fingers

Pull pieces of Theraputty/Playdoh/silly putty apart

Play tug of war with a friend using coffee stirrers, string, wikki stix and
only your fingers

Pick up and sort coins by matching and stacking and counting pennies, dimes,
nickels etc.
