Announcements

MAY:
We are almost done with MCAS this year! The grade level teams are beginning
to work on placement for next year. Grades K-2 students are identifying work
buddies so we can ensure they have positive learning peers with them next
year. We teach the students how to select good work buddies, and how that can
be different from good friends. It is a good life lesson for our budding
scholars.

Grades 3 and 4 will likely be following a 4/5 model as we have in the past two
years. Middle School teachers report that this model helps prepare our
students for their transition. The model also helps us to more effectively
differentiate our instruction to meet student needs.

Lastly, if you are planning on moving next year, please let us know as soon
as possible. We will be sending out student records during the last weeks of
June. Since school is closed for the summer, late request will get sent out
in September when school re-opens. Additional information about moving from
the Lowell School is available near the bottom of this page.

Hope you are enjoying your spring!

MARCH:
Kindergarten registration is well underway. If you know anyone who has a
Kindergarten age child and has not yet registered, please encourage them to
contact us. Enrollment will informing the budgeting and planning process.

March also kicks off MCAS testing. Please help our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
to do their best, but to not stress over the testing. I always tell them that
it is an assessment of the school as much as an assessment of what they know.
The results will help us do a better job teaching.

JANUARY:
Kindergarten Information Night is Tuesday, January 8th at 6:30 and
registration begins the following week. Please click on "Registration for

NOVEMBER:
Hope your school year is going well! As we enter the holiday season, we are
preparing for Kindergarten information night and registration in January. We
have also been working hard at our Guidance lessons in all the grades. You
are welcome to peruse our lessons via the "Guidance Lessons" link on the left.
In addition, we recently launched our Caring School Community Buddy Program.
It was heart warming to hear students say "Look! There is my buddy!" as the
pass each other in the hallway. Lots of great things are happening at the
Lowell School!
