Welcome to 7th grade science!!
Dear Students, Parents & Guardians,
Hello. My name is Ms. MacAulay and I am your science teacher this year in
cluster 4. We work in room B101 in the 7th grade wing. This is my eighth year
teaching 7th grade at Watertown Middle School and I look forward to an
engaging and enjoyable year.
Our curriculum focus in 7th grade is life science. We study biology topics
such as classification, plant and animal cells, bacteria and viruses, natural
selection, heredity and human body systems. Lab activities are an integral
part of our work. Students apply the scientific method to their investigations
and will write up their lab findings. Students will continue to use the metric
system, applying and refining the metric skills they developed in 6th grade.
During the first month of school we focus on procedures. These are outlined on
the sheet titled "Science Guidelines" which students have in their binders. We
will practice procedures to help students develop the good habits needed to
make this a productive and enriching science experience. Parent support is
needed and appreciated in this endeavor! Please look through your student's
binder periodically to acquaint yourself with the daily happenings in science.
