I spent most of my young life wanting to be a teacher (and allowing myself to be talked out of it).
Through 13 years of private day school and boarding school I longed to be a teacher, yet EVERYONE
tried to talk me out of it. Then came college... I ended up as an Art History major at Bates College in
Lewiston, Maine. Once again, professors and advisors talked me out of pursuing a career in education.
So, I tried the business world, which was clearly not the right place for me. Finally, in 1987 (as my
husband was finsihing his PhD at Boston College), I was inspired to return to school and go for my
dreams. I graduated from Boston College in 1989 (two weeks before my son Sean was born) with a
Masters of Education. I have been teaching in Watertown ever since. School is obviously a HUGE part of
my life, but in my free time i enjoy playing tennis, reading and watching movies.
My hope for all of my students is that they push themselves to become independent thinkers. Our
motto is TFY (Think for Yourself)
