February 25, 2009 The homework assignments for this week have changed due to no school on Thursday February 26, 2009. February 10, 2009 Have you been experiencing difficulty completing your homework? Are you using your notes, or looking through classwork and trying to follow the steps? Make sure you let your teacher know that you had trouble, and be prepared to let them know exactly what you did not understand - there are plenty of adults (and students) in the room that can help you! :) January 12, 2009 Don't forget that this Friday the students do not have school due to the teachers Professional Day. There is also no school on the following Monday (1/16) due to MLK's birthday. January 8, 2009 Happy Birthday Elvis Presley!!! Due to the snow day on Wednesday I have changed the homework for the week. Make sure you updated your agendas! November 21, 2008 Parent teacher conferences will be held on Monday November 24th. My meetings will be held in my classroom on the second floor in room 217. I look forward to meeting the parents and guardians of my students! To all of my students and their families I wish a happy and safe Thanksgiving! October 31, 2008 Today in class we are working on a project that combines fractions, measuring, and making a batch of caramel corn. Students are required to calculate the cost of this project and decide on a "potential" sale price of the finished project. September 15, 2008 The checkbook project will start this week! Students will be given check registers to record their debits and credits. No "real money" is needed or used for this project. Students will earn their monies through their class participation, homework, and assessment grades. Respect and responsibility will be encouraged throughout this project. Students will "pay" for unaccepatble class behavior and lack of preparedness for class with through their account. Periodically students are able to purchase candy, small school supplies, and water from Mr. T with "money" from their accounts. September 8, 2008: Back to school night will take place on September 9, 2008. The grade 8 team will address parents in the library. The students have been asked to obtain a take-out menu for a project we will be starting on September 19th. The goal of the project is to learn how to calculate tax and tip when ordering out. School starts on August 27, 2008! Start looking for a three-ring binder to store your math notes, assignments and reference sheets. You will be required to bring your notebook, math book and a pencil to each class session. I am looking forward to a productive and pleasant school year. "Planning plus preparation equals success!"
