UPDATE Feb. 2, 2012
Check out the "Photo's & Doc's" menu choice over on the left side of the page if you want to try working at home (optional) on the Elements PowerPoint project we started this week in class. You will find this at the top of the list: Element PowerPoint project file. It is a live link to the PowerPoint template. I launched it from there & successfully saved it to my Documents folder so I know it works. Be sure to SaveAs without the .pot part, as it can only be successfully saved with just the .ppt at the end (file extension). Remember you should change the file's name during the SaveAs operation as: element name/your name.ppt (no ".pot"). My successful save was: Oxygen/Badessa.ppt...& it worked. Have fun - learn something ;-)
UPDATE Nov. 30, 2011

Density Test re-take is Thursday, 12/8 during 1st (Independence) lunch. Write a pass ahead of time & I'll sign it.
UPDATE Nov. 28, 2011
In case you've not found it elsewhere, my school email is: rbadessa@sch.ci.lexington.ma.us UPDATE Sept. 30, 2011
"Measurement Lab 3: Rubber Bands" Word document is posted now ('Photos & Documents' menu on the far left) for those who need to review it, print a fresh copy, (or as some students asked about, to do the homework in Word rather than their own handwriting).
UPDATE: Sept. 18, 2011
Hey 8th grade 'scientists' - take a look at the photos we got with my phone in one of our Mysterious M&M's "Observation Skills" Labs - they're on Photo's & Doc's link over on the left hand menu...
UPDATE: Sept. 14, 2011
If you look at the left hand menu you will see I've added a "Photos & Doc's" (documents) page. That's where I'll post documents or photo's that you will need to reference on certain homework & long term projects we'll be doing this year in 8th grade science. Right now there are two new ones I put there today. One doc we used in class today while graphing all the "time-stamp" data points collected using stop watches while observing the "Angeogenisis" science video, & the other is one we'll use tomorrow during our shortened day. Take a minute to check them out!
----------------
9/1/11 - Welcome back 8th graders! Hope you had a fun summer & that you’re
now "re-created" & ready to embark upon your third year of science at Diamond Middle School.
As 8th graders you will be
studying Physical Science this year (as opposed to Life or Earth Science you
had as 6th & 7th graders). We will explore the very nature of physical
science: from “atom-to-zero” (absolute
zero that is). Units will include, among
others, the ‘scientific method’, motion, energy, forces, elements, compounds
& mixtures, how & why they react (or don’t) with each other (at the
atomic level), classification of mater, the periodic table & more. All the while we’ll be doing many labs so we
can actually experience these concepts, reactions & phenomena in a hands-on
way.
So come prepared to do, not just
read & listen!
