Homework <p class="c1">Second graders will have approximately 25 minutes of assigned homework each night Monday through Thursday. This homework will be a chance for the children to review and practice what was learned in school. On the first day of the school week (usually Monday) each student will be given a Homework Assignment Calendar attached to a packet.   The sheet will include important reminders about class and/or school events, as well as long-term assignment information. I ask that the parents check their child's Assignment Calendar and folder each day to be sure that assignments are done neatly, and completely to the best of their child's ability.<br /> <br /> In addition to the daily assignments, second graders will be required to read at least 15 minutes each day at home Monday through Sunday. This reading should be for pleasure and may include books, magazines, cookbooks, etc.  Each child has a Home Reading Log. Students should record the title of each reading material that they read that week (no need to list titles more than once). This reading log is part of the homework requirement and will be checked at the end of each week. The reading material that the child chooses should be able to be read almost independently (no more than 5 errors out of 100 words). This will enable the children to build reading fluency, comprehend what is read, and most importantly HAVE FUN!<br /> <br /> *Note to Parents: If your child is having extreme difficulty understanding and/or completing homework please contact me to make arrangements for after school extra help.</p> Automatically clean input to optimize for the web.
