These are some Negro Spirituals that were quite popular in their time and 
carried on through generations.

This is your assignmnet to read three articles (or portions of articles) in 
looking at what is called the Harlem Renaissance.  Please follow the 
directions and questions carefully.  The due dates are given on the 
assignment.

This is the etext of "The Souls of Black Folk" by W.E.B. Du Bois.  It's laid 
out chapter by chapter.  This is a look at the identity of African Americans 
in the U.S. as their "twoness."  This discussed twoness will apply to other 
identities.

This is the introduction of Alain Locke's "The New Negro", a collection of 
essays.  Alain Locke wrote the introduction and presents some interesting 
ideas of the time.
