Many students have been reading and recording the names of the books they
are reading in their 100 Book Club booklet. I have been giving students a
sticker for their sticker chart for every five books they read. We started
in October with the "Book It" program from Pizza Hut. Students will also earn
a coupon for a free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza when they read ten books in
addition to the two stickers they will get for their sticker chart. This
will continue through March. Each student may only earn one coupon per
month, but it is a new month, so your child should be working toward
January's coupon!
Please check with your child about their school supplies. I am surprised
at the number of children who do not have glue sticks or even pencils each
day. Nezayja's aunt sent in pencils for everyone on Monday, so that was a
very nice and helpful surprise! Please check with your child about this.
We are using hand sanitizer each day before lunch, and this keeps our
hands clean, but wipes also allow us to clean off our desk tops as well after
we clean our hands. Other children do sit in our desks at Math time, and the
wipes help to keep the amount of germs down. Please consider sending in a
box of wipes to help our class stay healthy. Thank you!
Thank you for the support that you are providing at home each night with
the completion of homework, especially now that the spelling assignments are
more challenging. Each child is doing very well with coming into the
classroom on time and showing me their homework on their desk as they copy
the new day's homework into their agenda. We have earned many marbles for
following directions and for walking quietly in the halls and up the stairs.
We had our fourth Marble Jar Party and are very close to having our FIFTH! I
am very proud of our class. Thank you for sending me such wonderful children
to work with each day. :-)
