Take Home Reading:
 
MCPS requires that fifth grade students read 25 books by the end of the 
school year outside of school.

Students will be required to read at least 20 minutes each night and record 
their reading on a THR log.  
The goal is for every student to be reading approximately 3 books per month 
to meet the goal of 25 books.  After finishing a book, students must complete 
a brief written 
response.

Details about the Take-Home Reading program have been sent home.  Please 
review this information with your student.

Spelling Lesson  began December 2nd and is due on December 16th.

Each student has ten focus words and five self-selected words from 
their word wall list.

Students will have a test in two weeks, on Wednesday, December 16th.  The 
homework is due that same day.

Students need to complete five spelling activities and complete one pre-test 
to receive full credit.

Math homework will be given nightly with the exception of weekends and 
holidays. It is expected that students copy nightly homework in their 
planners and that homework returns to school complete when due.

Please monitor your child's planner to make sure they are keeping up with the 
homework board.
