Math: Unit 4:
Throughout unit 4 we will be studying division. We will learn how to divide a 3 digit divisor by a 1 digit dividend. We will make magnitude estimates and divide decimals. We will use our understanding of division to interpret remainders and find the mean of a set of data. We will have our final unit test for this unit on Wednesday, November 25th. .
Science
We will begin our next science unit, Astrononmy and Weather, on Monday, November 30th.
Social Studies
We will be studying the 7 different Native American Cultural Regions. We will be examining how they adapted to their environment and different artifacts they created in order to survive. We will have our test on this chapter November 24th.
Writing:
On Monday we will be beginning our next writing unit. We will be learning about the five different text structures associated with informational writing. We will examine the different text structures and determine some key words associated with each structure. Then we will choose a topic and an appropriate structure.
Reading:
We are in the middle of our second reading theme of the year. The stories in this theme are all centered around characters that work together to reach a common goal. Ask your child about the stories they are reading in class and how the characters are working together to reach a common goal. Throughout this theme we will also be working on identifying and explaining the author's message, summarizing, and learning and using robust vocabulary. .
