What is the best way to contact Miss Daggett?

The best and fastest way to contact me is through email. Feel free to email
me at mdaggett@ccboe.com at any time. I check it throughout the day and will
be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
Depending on the subject of the email it may be more appropriate for me to
either call or set up an appointment with you.
If email is not possible please call the school at 301-934-4270.

How can I know what my child's homework is for the night?

Each child is responsible for writing down their homework in their agendas,
which should be checked by you every evening for notes and notices. I also
suggest that each student have at least two phone numbers of friends that
they can call in the case that they need to check on homework.
If your child has forgotten their math book keep in mind that it is available
for viewing online. Each student will have a username and password for the
math website.
Please keep in mind that forgetting homework is not an excuse for not
turning it in.

How does my child recieve thier make-up work?

When a student is either absent or misses class for another reason it is the
STUDENT'S responsibility to get their make-up work. I will put all worksheets
handed out throughout the day on their desk. Any other assignments and notes
that are taken on the day they are absent are the student's responsiblity
for aquiring, either by asking me at an appropriate time or asking another
student if I do not have a hard copy available. Students are free to ask me
questions during the appropriate times (before/after school, recess)to
recieve directions or get any needed insruction. Also be aware
that work should be submitted in a timely manner. Students are given the
amount of time they missed school to complete the assignments (if they miss
one day of school they get one day to turn in the work).
Study hall is available everyday to work on assignments.

What if I have a question about my child?

If you are interested discussing your child's progress in school or just
seeing how they are doing overall please feel free to schedule an
appointment with me. I can do either phone or personal conferences or even
email you if that is easier.

How can I help my child at home?

In math the most important thing is to help your child study their math
facts. They are an incredibly important foundation for everything else we
are learning this year.
In reading and writing, encourage your child to work on assignments to the
best of their ability. Rereading their own work for careless errors can
significantly improve a grade. Also encourage them to take their time on
assignments so it is done to the best of their ability, not their fastest.

How can I keep an eye on my child's grade?

In addition to looking over papers that come home on Friday, please feel
free to request a progress report. I can print out their progress for any
subject and it will show all their grades so far, including their overall
grade.

What is study hall?

Everyday during recess study hall is held. If students have not completed
homework, classwork, or have missing assignments this is the time of day that
they are expected to get that work done. Study hall may be a requirement for
some assingnments or just be available if a student needs extra help. The
philosophy behind study hall comes from the 4th grade's emphasis on personal
responsibility. This is a time that they are given the opportunity to be sure
all work is turned in and be responsible for their work.

What if my child has missing or lost assignments?

In an effort to promote personal responsibility in the classroom only one
copy of any assignment will be provided to the students. If a paper is lost
or missing then extra hard copies of worksheets/papers will be available. It
will be that student's responsibility to copy down the questions onto their
own paper. Missing or losing an assignment is not an excuse for not turning
it or turning it late.
