How Can Parents Keep Track of Assignments and Activities?

1. All homework assignments should be written in the agenda book.
This book is designed to help your child stay ahead of short and
long-term assignments. One free agenda book is given to all students
at the beginning of the year. There is a $5.00 for each additional copy.
We advise that all parents check the agenda book at least several times
a week.

2. When homework is completed, please supervise your child while they
put assignments back in the appropriate binders. This will help get
them in the practice of getting organized.

3. Remind your child to store his/her backpack with agenda book,
homework, and lunch money inside their backpack next to the door the
night before.

4. At least once a week, help your child straighten out each binder, any
old papers could be placed in a folder and filed by month and subject for
example: Science/November.

5. Create an area in the house where there is a copy of your child’s
schedule with teacher’s names, the school’s schedule, and calendar,
Dragon Tales, and field trip notices. This area should be visible to
everyone.

                         Stay on Target with Assignments

1. Homework assignments are posted in ALL of your child’s classes.
Some classes assign homework every night. If there isn’t any
homework assigned, your child should write “none,” “read,” or “study”
inside the homework box in the agenda book.

2. When the assigned homework is for your child to study, he/she needs
to review notes from that particular subject.

3. If your child forgets to write down his/her homework, they can call their
study buddy or check the Teacher Web.

4. If you are already aware that your child has difficulty correctly writing
down assignments, you may wish to have him/her get the agenda book
initialed by all teachers.

5. The following page is a copy of our new school schedule and
important numbers should you need them. Please make sure that your
child copies their schedule on the sheet provided.

6. The use of an agenda book and calendars are a good way to plan,
prioritize, and manage time and activities (both academic and social).
On the second attachment, there is a sample page from your child’s
agenda book. Your child should write all long-term assignments (last
attachment), such as projects and reports, on the monthly calendar
page. This will help avoid the hassles associated with waiting to the
last minute to complete work.
