Were you really in the Army?

Yes! I was in the U.S. Army from 1979-1983. I served as a broadcast
specialist (71R) for the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network, which means I was a radio and
television reporter, and t.v. production specialist. I also directed a nightly newscast and wrote
scripts for commercials.

Is it true your husband plays guitar and flute for a classic rock band?

That is true! He plays acoustic and electric guitar, as well as a wicked
hard rock flute (He sounds a lot like Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull). He
also sings and writes songs.

Are you a bear?

I am known as "The Bear" because I am very protective of my students. I am nurturing and playful,
like a mother bear, but when it's time to be serious, I expect everyone's full attention. Good
listening skills and social skills are reinforced firmly but gently, therefore I am "The Bear"
