Mr. Batson was born in Seabrook, MD in 1968. During the early years he
tortured his older brothers and sisters, doing those things that only younger
siblings can do to get on your nerves.
Mr. Batson attended Gabriel DuVal Senior High School and wrote this for his
Yearbook Senior Goals: To become a professional writer or artist. He attended
the University of MD, College Park, and during that time played lead guitar
for a heavy metal band called "Contagious." They were catchy, but apparently
not enough to get a record deal.
Mr. Batson has been teaching Middle School Reading for 14 years. He now lives
in Eldersburg, Maryland with his beautiful wife and four incredible children.
Mr. Batson now spends his spare time watching his youngest son Bryce and
youngest daughter Rachel doing those things that only younger siblings can do
to get on the nerves of their older siblings.
Since January 2004, Mr. Batson has published six books with Thomas Nelson
Publishers. These books were inspired by and, in some cases, edited by my
students over the years:
