I am so excited about this year at Folly Quarter Middle School. With six
years in our school, this seventh year will hopefully bring many new and
awesome experiences!
I will be teaching five 6th grade science classes. In science this year we
will concentrate on lab safety as well as geology, atmosphere and weather,
and astronomy. We will always try to focus on the impact of science
concepts and science processes as they apply outside the classroom.
I am also involved in coordinating the Outdoor Education program for 6th
graders at Folly Quarter. This is a chance for me to hang out with my
students outside the classroom setting. Our Outdoor Education dates for this
school year are October 28-30, 2009.
My hobbies, outside of school, include traveling, reading and spending time
with my 5 1/2 year-old son, Jake, and my 2 1/2 year-old son, Jamie. I also
like to visit my niece, Emmy, and my nephew, Max, in Plainsboro, New Jersey.
I look forward to working with, and finding out about, each of you this year!
6th Grade Science:
After an introduction to the science lab and safety information, we
will explore geology and earth processes, atmosphere and weather, and our
solar system. For most students this is the first exposure to scientific
equipment and the important process skills of science (observing, measuring,
classifying, problem solving, analyzing, etc...). We will focus on these
processes as well as on the impact of science in our everyday lives.
