Homework #1, #2, #3, #4

HW #1: Due at the end of class on 8-26 or 8-27 Initial Responses to FSK, 
their peers, teachers, and what they see happening during the school year.
HW #2: Due Thursday 8-28: Signed Syllabus
HW #3: Due Thursday-8-28: Introduce Yourself
HW #4: Due Wed 9-3: What is History?  What does history mean to you?  
Why is history important?
•	Must be four paragraphs
1.	Introduction-Answer the question: What is history?
2.	What does history mean to you?
3.	Why is history important?
4.	Conclusion-Wrap-up the essaybring it to a conclusion
•	Typed or written, double spaced or skip spaces, written in pen.
•	Worth two (2) homework’s or 8 points

Project #1: "History of You're Life: Collage Project"

Requirements:
  Please use construction paper or poster board.  No Loose-leaf or printing 
paper.

Items that could be included:

Your interests (sports, shopping, computers).
Picture of the place you were born (if you were born in B-More, use 
something that represents B-More).
Family
Vacations
Any other items that tell the story of your life!

 **This is a collage; you should use pictures from magazines or anything 
else creative that you  think may liven up your collage.  Don’t simply list 
items you like…make this something you are proud to present.
**Projects will be presented
**Remember, a collage includes lots of pictures (this does not mean just 
photographs!! You may use a few photo’s but not many), not a bunch of 
words!! You will get a better grade using a variety of pictures!!
*Include a Title!
**Worth two project grades Follow the directions and complete all the 
requirements, and a high score is waiting for you!! 

          The Presentation
This projects will be presented to the class.
Here are some hints for success:
Speak loud and clear
MAKE EYE CONTACT!
Describe a majority of the pictures when presenting, don’t simply talk about 
a couple, we want to know about your life!!
Presentation should be at least one minute!!

DUE DATE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH.

Homework #5 (due 9-11)
* What do you kow about the attacks of Septebmer 11, 2001 on the World Trade 
Center?  Write down everything you know!

Homework #6 (Due Tuesday 9-16)
Based on prior knowledge, answer the following questions.

1. How did early human beings get food and water?
2. How they traveled?
3. How the first tools were created?
4. Why was fire so important?

Homework: #7 (Due Tuesday 9-23)
*Based upon classroom activities and discussion, imagine you were an early 
human being on earth…compare and contrast your life now with the life of 
early human beings on earth.  How are you alike?  How are you different?  
Assignment should be done using a Venn diagram.

Homework #8 (Due Thursday 9-25)
In two paragraph’s, explain how early human beings are similar and different 
from how we are today.

Homework #9: (Friday  9-26)  Book Check

Homework #10: (Due Monday 9-29)
Students are to complete the blue organizational chart about storing, 
selling, and giving away surplus grain.

Homework: #11 (Due Monday 10-6)
*Bring in at least one map to share with the class.


Settlement Project:
For a Project Grade:
*Pretend you are an architect (creator) of a city.  It is about 8,000 years 
ago and the first cities are starting to develop.  Create a drawing of your 
city.  Remember, this is about survival, not a vacation!!  Make sure that 
your neighborhood includes the five (5) items that make up a civilization!

*Items to consider:
- Water Source 	- Food	 -Soil	          -Technology/Tools     
Domestication   -Trade    -Irrigation system  
Where are your crops?  Where are important buildings (government buildings 
etc.)  How close is the civilization to water?  Specialized labor?

**This can be done on a piece of construction paper or poster board.
*Also, you can create the city in a shoebox or make a model by any means 
possible!!
*Make sure to draw (or use pictures from the internet etc.) the items that 
outline what you would want in your ideal place to settle.  
*In addition to your drawing/model, you must write a one-two paragraph 
summary that outlines your settlement.

**Rubrics were handed out Friday, October 3rd.
