Welcome to Mrs. Ferraro's Fabulous Finds webpage!
This site is designed to provide both the student and parent with
information necessary for the students success in my classes. This class is
unique from others because it encourages the students to learn study skill
strategies and their learning styles, as well as certain life skills
necessary for success in today's work force.
My favorite quote is one by Michael Jordan....... "You have to expect things
of yourself before you can do them. I can accept failure. Everyone fails at
something. But I can't accept not trying."
In Mrs. Ferraro's Biology class, students have the right to fail, however,
that right is not allowedor exercised in my course. Those who truly work
hard and put forth effort in all of their classwork, homework, tests/quizzes
and who regularly participate in class, will do well in my class. Please
see me afterschool if you are ever not performing satisfactorily.

Alternative Assessment
The lessons are designed to provide the students with ample opportunity for
success. Each lesson is designed to engage the student in work
that "stimulates their curiosity, permits them to express their creativity,
and foster positive relationships with others". Students will be involved in
many hands-on cooperative tasks. These tasks are either projects/labs which
focuses on the student demonstrating the knowledge they have acquired rather
than what they don't know.
Multiple Intelligence Theory and Lessons
"Give me a fish and I eat for a day. Teach me to fish and I eat for a
lifetime" -Proverb
Since all students learn differently, in my class, each student has the
opportunity to succeed because all lessons include a variety of
instructional
tasks designed to touch on all seven intelligences.
At the end of the year, I hope the students will have been exposed to a
variety of different techniques such that they will be able to recognize the
strategies that help them to learn best. They will then be able to utilize
these strategies in all learning experiences to come.
