Graduation Requirements

                           -CLASS OF 2007 & 2008- 
Credit and Assessments Requirement: Students must earn a minimum of twenty-
one (21) credits to graduate. Credits must be earned in the following areas:

English              4                 English 9, 10, 11, 12

Mathematics          3                 1 credit in Intro to Alg/Data Analysis
                                       or Alg1/Data Analysis* 
                                       1 credit in Intro to Geometry or 
                                       Geometry* 1 additional math credit  

Social Studies       3                 1 credit in U.S. History
                                       1 credit in American Government
                                       1 credit in Modern World History

Science              3                 1 credit in Biology
                                       2 credits that must include laboratory
                                       experience in any or all of the 
                                       following areas: Earth Science, Life
                                       Science, Physical Science

Physical Education   1/2               1/2 credit in Lifetime Fitness

Health               1/2               1/2 credit in Health Education or 
                                       Current Health Issues
Fine Arts            1                 

Technology Ed.       1

Program Choice       2-4               2 credits in World Language**; OR
                                       2 credits in an approved Advanced
                                       Technology Program; OR 4 credits in a

*Students who successfully completed high schoool level mathematics in 
middle school still need to earn 3 credits in mathematics. 

**Students who received credit for Spanish 1 or French 1 based on work in 
middle school, still need to earn at least 2 credits in World Language for 
the program choice option.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENT: 
Students must take the Maryland High School Assessments for English, 
Algebra/Data Analysis, Biology and American Government.

*Students who successfully completed high schoool level mathematics in 
middle school still need to earn 3 credits in mathematics, preferably in 
higher level courses. A student who passed Intro to Algebra/Data Analysis 
and passed the Algebra/Data Analysis HSA in 2005-2006 has fulfilled the 
Algebra graduation requirement.  

**Students who received credit for Spanish 1 or French 1 based on work in 
middle school, still need to earn at least 2 credits in World Language for 
the program choice option.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENT: 
Students must take the Maryland High School Assessments for English, 
Algebra/Data Analysis, Biology and Government. The student must achieve one 
of the following: 
1) the passing score on each test,
2) a minimum score for each test and a combined overall score,
3) a specific score on an MSDE-approved comparable assessment(s) OR
4) a passing score on the four High School Assessments by a combination of 
(1) and (3).
