Mrs. Burns was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland but spent several years
living in Denver, Colorado. She is married with two daughters, ages 10 and
seven. Mrs. Burns began teaching two short years ago after fourteen years in
the business world. Her professional experience includes twelve years in
partnership marketing management, two years owning a small catering business
and consulting for the food and wine industry. She earned her Bachelor's
Degree in Economics from St. Mary's College of Maryland and a Master's Degree
in Business Management from the College of Notre Dame. Mrs. Burns spends her
free time playing with her family and dog, reading, and of course, cooking!
Her love of cooking has been largely inspired by her Italian mother, but also
by the many fine restaurants she has visited during her years of business travel.
To provide a dynamic learning environment which encourages students to be
actively engaged in their own learning about food and nutrtion. Students will
be able to apply nutrition concepts to daily living, using basic food
prepararion skills to safely prepare nutritious meals.
