Courses: Chemistry, Chemistry GT, and Introduction to Chemistry and Physics (ICP)

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:

Chemistry - concurrent enrollment in or completion of Algebra II recommended

Chemistry GT - grade of B or better in previous science, completion of Algebra II is recommended

ICP - current enrollment in Algebra I/Data Analysis

The courses:

Chemistry and Chemistry GT - This course includes the study of the periodic table, bonding, gases, solutions, organic molecules, and acids and bases. Students will perform laboratory investigations (GT may design and implement laboratory investigations) to develop an understanding of the characteristics and quantitative relationships associated with matter. The course emphasizes the use of technology to collect and analyze data as well as algebraic and other mathematics skills for problem solving.

*GT classes may be required to participate in the Howard High School Science Fair.
