Algebra IB

 

This course will build upon the instruction provided in Algebra 1A.  The class will open with a brief review of Algebra 1A.  Following this, topics  to be covered include:

 

• Powers and Roots
• Polynomials
• Factoring
• Quadratic and Exponential Functions
• Inequalities
• Systems of Equations and Inequalities
• Radical Expressions
• Rational Expressions and Equations

 

The course will provide a strong foundation in the fundamentals of algebra and prepare the student for Geometry.  The course text Algebra Concepts and Applications will  be supplemented by handouts of additional instructional materials, problems and exercises. Mathematical vocabulary will be reviewed and reinforced for each topic area.  Emphasis will be placed on practical approaches to problem solving.
