The entire school will begin the year with Henri Matisse. 8th grade has
begun with two Matisse projects: one is "Body in Motion"; a 40 minute, no
pencil allowed, cut out piece and the other is "View Thru My Window;"a
collage consisting of a manipulated photograph(the "window")created in the
Computer Room and the painting of the room around it, on canvas board.
The second and third projects will be created in clay: one on the pottery
wheel and one that is handbuilt.
Middle School Art classes are one and a half trimesters. They will be in
Art for a trimester then switch to Music for the next, or vice versa. The
third trimester will be split between the two. We see them 2 times a week
for 40 minutes.
This third trimester, all of the 8th grade students are working on Stained
Glass Mosaics, a project they love. They will also glaze any ceramic pieces
created during the first or second trimester.
