This is my 30th year teaching and my 7th year as a Lower Elementary
teacher in John Hanson. I received my Montessori training at the Barrie
School, American Montessori Society. My first 24 years were spent teaching
elementary music, chorus and band in Pennsylvania and as the music teacher
for the first year of John Hanson Montessori. I have a B.S. in Musc Education
from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am certified not only
in Music, but with a Preschool - 3rd grade and 1-6 grade classroom
qualification. I finished a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction as a Reading
Specialist at Grand Canyon University last spring. Next project is a PhD with Walden University
combining music and reading.
I live in Accokeek with my energetic dog, Raven, two pesky cats, Huxley and Cheese,
and three calm ferrets, Martina, Phoebe and Graneso. My two sons are now grown
and living out of state. I am the Music Director and organist at Oxon Hill
Methodist Church and was an organist for 25 years in PA. I also sing with
the Capital Hill Chorale.
The mission for our class is to challenge the child in his strengths
and help him to grow in a multi-faceted curriculum that prepares him for
life situations throughout his education and adulthood.
