"First in Math" points earned were discussed and treats were given to the
1st, 2nd and 3rd place highest points for each grade level. Five people have
still earned 0 points.
Junior Great Books -- Today we had our SHARED INQUIRY DISCUSSION groups.
Participation earned a -, check, or a plus. Next week for Session 5, we will
be doing the writing element of the story.
"Structures" -- We had to STOP due to work NOT BEING TURNED IN. The Homework
Choices will remain for when we meet after Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving,
we will begin Lesson 3 in the assignment of construction crews.
Independent Study Booklet -- Continue p 3 for homework by choosing one thing
from p. 2 and then fill out what you already know, what you want to find out,
and how you will find out about it. Be prepared to share your topic choice.
Also, look at product possibilities on page 4.
On April 23, the Independent Study Project is due.
On May 7 the completed Independent Study Booklets are due with ALL signatures

"Structures" Homework -- Finish the following Homework Choices:
• Imagine you are a structure. How do you see the world? Draw a picture
and write a few sentences about it.
• Use the vocabulary structure graphic organizer to investigate three
interesting words.
• Complete an activity on “Homes of the Past”. Find a picture of a home
of the past and then tell something interesting about it::
Medieval times, a castle, an Egyptian home, a home from Victorian England, a
home of an American leader of the past (Monticello, Mount Vernon,…), Casa
Milà Barcelona, or a home of the past of your choice.
• Complete any activity on “Architecture”. Find one unusual structure,
bring in a picture and write something interesting about it:
Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture, I.M. Pei, Architect - Herbert F. Johnson
Museum of Art at Cornell University, 1913 : Grand Central, New York, Empire
State Building, 1957 - 1973 : Sydney Opera House, Australia, or any “SPECIAL”
architectural structure you would like to investigate.
(Student packets for "Structures" and "Symmetry" will be given out when the
warehouse sends them and the child has the 3-ring binder to hold it.)
