Primary TAG

TAG met on November 6. A letter was given out about "First in Math" that can
be done at home, school, or a public library on their computer. Points earned
by 3rd graders was discussed and cards were passed out to 2nd graders so they
can begin to accumulate points.

"Structures" -- We began Lesson 2 on "Name that Structure." We got to the
igloo. On each picture we named it, told its purpose, and its main parts or
features. We looked at pyramids, teepees or wigwams, the Washington monument,
castle, radio tower, hotel or apartment, and the igloo. Next week we will
continue with more structures and then we will determine if it is man-made or
natural. For homework finish the Vocabulary Web on "Structure" by adding a
sentence and some examples. Finish last week's homework and be ready to share
it.

Independent Study Booklet -- Continue p 3 for homework by choosing one thing
from p. 2 and then fill out what you already know, what you want to find out,
and how you will find out about it. Be prepared to share your topic choice.
We will look at product possibilities.
On April 23, the Independent Study Project is due.
On May 7 the completed Independent Study Booklets are due with ALL signatures

Junior Great Books -- Today we finished our 2nd reading of "The Magic
Listening Cap." We finished the sidebar questions about what the old man
learned about nature. Then we wrote about a surprising thing the old man
learned about nature. Next week for vocabulary development, we will present a
dramatic interpretation of a scene from the story showing "sounds"
and "voices" discussed in a textual analysis.

HOMEWORK:
Independent Study Booklet - Page 3 in the yellow "Guided Independent Study
Booklet."
"Structures" Homework -- Finish the Vocabulary Web with a sentence and some
examples of structures and the Choices from last week:
•	Draw a picture and write three sentences about your house.
•	Find pictures of different houses on the internet and write about
their similarities and differences.

(Student packets for "Structures" and "Symmetry" will be given out when the
warehouse sends them and the child has the 3-ring binder to hold it.)
