Still waiting for signed Progress Reports which came home on Monday, December
14. Please go over them, sign them and then return the signed progress report
to me ASAP. If your child has any poor assessments, please call me for a

JUNIOR GREAT BOOKS -- We are now reading "The Invisible Child." Today was
Session 3 for the vocabulary development lesson. Next time we meet, in 2010,
we will have our shared inquiry discussion (SID) for Session 4.
INDEPENDENT STUDY PROJECT -- Today we continued "Step 2" on finding resources
(pages 23 - 28) and getting prepared for conference # 2. Today they received
copies of p. 25 and 27. (Our booklets have still NOT come.) I am still
waiting on contracts. Only 12 students have turned in their signed contracts.
Children are firming up their plan for their next step and thinking about
their presentations. Ask to see their Conference # 2 paper as we finish our
second conference.
On April 8 the Independent Study Project is due. On May 13 the Intermediate
Independent Study Booklet is due with ALL signatures.
HOMEWORK: I'm still waiting for the signed contract. Continue to accumulate
points on "First in Math." Returned the signed Progress Report. Over the
holiday break, it would have been an opportune time to visit the Public
Library to obtain resources: however, all libraries will be closed during
that time this year for economic reasons.
