Counselor Biographies

Mr. Will Schwarz:

Prior to his current role at Marriotts Ridge Mr. Schwarz was the Student Services Instructional Team Leader at Centennial High School for four years. He worked for nine years as a counselor at Arundel High School in Anne Arundel County. Mr. Schwarz earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology from UMBC in 1981 and his Master's degree in Education (in Guidance and Counseling) from Loyola College in 1990. He taught science for eight years in Anne Arundel County schools, first at Meade High School and later at Southern High School, where he also was the head lacrosse coach. Mr. Schwarz is currently the JV Boys Lacrosse coach at Marriotts Ridge.

Mrs. Jodi Dubbs:

Mrs. Dubbs came to Marriotts Ridge High School after three years at Hammond High School. Mrs. Dubbs is a 1995 graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Mrs. Dubbs earned her Masters of Education, specifically in School Counseling, from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. Mrs. Dubbs occupational resume includes adolescent and family therapy at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of Pittsburgh and has also coached softball at Boston University and the University of Pittsburgh.  Mrs. Dubbs has been a member of the MRHS since the opening of the school!

Ms. Tara Ebersole:

Mrs. Ebersole joined HCPSS and Marriotts Ridge as the newest addition to the student services team. Previously, Mrs. Ebersole worked for three years as a school counselor at Meade High School in Anne Arundel County. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Dickinson College and her Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Penn State University in 2008. Professionally, Mrs. Ebersole’s background has focused on the 9th grade transition to high school, programming for military students and students in transition, adolescent mental health counseling with a clinical focus on ADHD and anxiety, and work with underrepresented populations in the area of college and career readiness.

Ms. Marjorie Ford:

Marjorie Ford is currently the Instructional Team Leader for the Student Services Center. She came to Marriotts Ridge High School after seven years as a school counselor at Oakland Mills High School. During her final year at the school, Ms. Ford was nominated by the staff for the 2007 Counselor of the Year Award. Previous to school counseling, she worked as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Regional Emotionally Disturbed Program at Mt. Hebron High School for two years. Ms. Ford also worked with the special education population in Howard County as a Work Study Coordinator for seven years. She assisted with developing school partnerships and placing students with special needs in paid and volunteer positions in order to ease the transition from school to work. Ms. Ford obtained her Masters Degree in Counseling and an additional Certification in Guidance from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in 1998. Her Bachelors Degree in Special Education was earned at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1985. She dedicated three years to the Lancaster City School System as a middle school teacher working with emotionally disturbed students prior to relocating to Maryland.

Ms. Linda Won

Mrs. Won joins us as the newest counselor of the Student Services Center. She has 14 years of experience in education. She has worked for the Office of the International Students and Families Services at the Central Office, Mt. Hebron and River Hill. She has a Masters of Science in School Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and is currently working toward a Certificate of Administration. She is also the founder and the coordinator of the first Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration High School Assembly in Howard County Public School System (HCPSS). She is an advisory member for HCPSS World Language as well as the Department of Student, Family, and Community Services. She is a Horizon Foundation Ellicott City Council member.
