SAT Prep Information
Howard County Library’s FREE SAT Prep Class
The Howard County Library offers a free SAT preparation course online.
Launched a year ago, LearnATest allows users to prepare for the SAT,
covering all parts of the SAT: math, critical reading, and essay writing.
Participants must provide a personal user name and password each time they
log on, so the system can keep track of scores and progress. LearnATest
times and evaluates each test taken, and offers suggestions for future
improvement.
LearnATest can be accessed both in the library and remotely with a Howard
County Library card. Go to [ http://www.hclibrary.org/ ]www.hclibrary.org
and click on Research Databases. Next, click on Tutorials, Courses and
Tests, then LearnATest, and finally, SAT Preparation.
PSAT Information
All PSAT scores were mailed home to students over winter break. The
Counseling Center does have a copy of each student's score. Please visit

For those who like to plan early here is a list of the PSAT Regional Parent
Information nights. Instead of each high school holding a review night, the
county is holding four nights at these sites.
All parents of high school sophomores and juniors should consider attending.

Parents are encouraged to select an evening that is most convenient to
attend. The purpose of the presentation will be to help parents better
understand their student’s PSAT scores and to support them in planning
college test taking strategies.
Dr. Martha Gagnon, formally with the College Board and currently a college
educational consultant will be the workshop presenter.

“What Students Should Know to Improve PSAT/SAT Scores”
This resource is designed for parents and students. Both verbal and
mathematics sections are detailed. The Office of Secondary Language Arts
and the Office of Secondary Mathematics collaborated in the creation of this
resource.
