Dear Parents,
We enjoyed meeting with you on Tuesday at Back to School Night.
There is always so much to share within a limited time period. We are
hopeful that you learned about us, our program and our expectations for your
boys.
This week Ms. F joined Mr. M and Ms. T. Letter People begin to take
over the classroom but they provide opportunities for the children to learn
letters, sounds and enjoy their friends from the Land of the Letter People.
Ms. F has funny feet so the boys made their own funny feet by tracing a
foot, cutting and creating. They used markers, stickers, crayons or colored
pencils and hopefully they all put forth quality work in their efforts. The
kindergarteners also listed Ff words and made an F is For Book. For
Friday’s Show and Tell they shared “f things” and did a pattern fruit
kabob for Friday’s cooking experience.
Speaking of patterns this is our new mathematics unit. The children
made up people patterns and learned the A B pattern sequence. The boys had
to explain their letter pattern when they created their fruit kabob.
Remember in this kindergarten class we digest and ingest all of our
learning.
As we work toward improved handwriting the boys are manipulating
lines and curves to form upper case F,E,and D. They always start all their
letters on the top.
If you did not notice during Back to School Night there is an
impressive Debug Store on display in the front hall. This was created by
the kindergarten and their fourth grade friends in Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Hertz
fourth grade class. It is really very clever and will hopefully help the
boys better understand the Debug procedure.
If your child is going home in a different way be sure and send in
a note. Otherwise we send them home in their usual way. If there is a
change that happens every week there is no reason to send in a note every
time.
Please send in your Golden Hands and Dreams and
Wishes if you have completed them. We would love to have them all in as soon
as possible.
The snack lists will be going home soon and is already posted on the
Classroom Web. Thank you for signing up for at least two and sometimes
three snack slots. Remember your child can be the snack person one day or
for the whole week. It is a powerful position.
Happy Fall week-end!
