A Look Forward to the 2007-2008 School Year…
Occupational Therapy at McLean School addresses fine motor skills that are
required for all classroom activities. These activities include, but are
not limited to, the manipulation of tools such as scissors, crayons,
pencils, gluesticks, rulers, etc. With the ability to successfully operate
classroom tools, learning is enhanced and students gain independence in the
classroom setting. Addtionally, Occupational Therapy services include
support for improving self-regulation of attention.
The Occupational Therapist:
* Provides Occupational Therapy screenings
* Provides weekly K-4 in-class support for fine motor needs and self-
regulation of attention
* Makes recommendations and referrals for Occupational Therapy services with
outside providers
* Acts as liason/facilitator with families, Occupational Therapists, and
faculty
* Collaborates with teachers on effective strategies to use with students
* Provides individual and small group intervention for an additional fee to
McLean.
