Chris Jenkins is a native Californian who became a teacher in January 2000 after retiring as a Navy Commander. She has taught kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades, as well as college. Ms. Jenkins talks fondly of her Navy days and loves to share stories (ask her about the time she crash-landed a Navy hot air balloon on the 7th tee in Plano, Texas!). She has been to 48 states, 13 countries, and has moved 23 times. Thanks to Ms. Jenkins' many years of globe-trotting, she has a special love for social studies and history. She teaches all 4th grade social studies and science this year.
Ms. Jenkins graduated from the University of Missouri with a BA in Geography and holds a Masters degree in Information Systems Management from University of Southern California (go, Trojans!). She earned her teacher's certification in 1999 from the College of Notre Dame and recently completed her certification for Administration.
Ms. Jenkins shares a home in Arnold with her wacky and loveable Golden Retriever, Bailey and newest addition, Brewski the cat. She also has two children. Bryan (25) lives in nearby Vienna, Virginia, and Carli (21) is a senior at Miami University in Ohio. In her spare time, you will find Ms. Jenkins on the water (no surprise!), traveling, or in some cold ice rink cheering on her daughter. Her goal is to attend the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Carli and her team will possibly be representing the United States in Synchronized Skating, a prospective Olympic sport.
