Homework
will not begin until a few weeks after school has began and routines have been
established. Homework will consist of a weekly packet broken into a nightly
schedule. However, we give a week to return the book so it can be done
according to your schedule. The packet will combine Math and Language Art
skills for the week. Reading decodable books that are sent home will also be
part of homework. Additionally, a composition book with a new poem each week
will be sent home with activities.
We do
keep track of who returns their homework, in the past this has been a part of
our Kindergarten progress report. Homework is meant to be done at home with
the parent reinforcing the skills taught at school. Showing that you value
homework and see it as a priority will set a precedent for your child
throughout their schooling.
All
homework packets and poetry notebooks need to be returned on Fridays. Please
also make sure you check purple folders every night and return them to school
daily. As the school year moves on you should be practicing sight words
NIGHTLY with your child. It is essential for reading fluency.
