Sight Words and Activities |

Dear Mom and Dad:
Learning our sight words is key to becoming fluent readers. Please practice these sight words at home with us as much as possible. We can play a game called Buzz that we love to play in school. With a packet of index cards, write all of my sight words on seperate cards. On about 10 more cards write the word BUZZ. Put all the cards face down in the middle of the table. I'll pick first. I have to read the word to you. If I get it right, I keep the card. Now it's your turn. If we pick a BUZZ card we have to put all our cards back in the middle. The person with the most cards at the end WINS!
I also like to use playdough to make my words. I can use ABC cookie cutters to spell out my words or use my hands to make the letters to spell it out. Either way, making words with playdough is fun!
It is also fun to use the magnetic letters on the refrigerator to make sight words or I can use bath crayons to write words on the bath wall.
Finally, memory is always fun! Let's make two index cards with each sight word and play memory!
