Mrs. Bjorklund
This is Janet Bjorklund's first year here at Millersville as a speech-language pathologist, but her 25th year as an SLP. Most of her career has been spent on the west coast including 3 years in Spain. She has 3 children and she likes to travel to see them. She also like hiking, reading, gardening, cooking and cross country skiing.
Miss Minnigerode
Miss Minnigerode, otherwise known as Miss M, is starting her 4th year teaching at Millersville Elementary School. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelors and a Masters degree is Special Education. In her spare time she loves to travel. She most recently has joined a National Organization called People to People where students get the opportunity to travel overseas for 3 weeks. This past summer Miss M. traveled with 35 middle school students to England, Ireland, and Wales. When she is not traveling she loves camping, going to the movies, and going to any Terp sporting event she can get to. Miss M. is thrilled to be back at Millersville for another wonderful year.
Miss Sparg
Miss Sparg is starting her first year here at Millersville Elementary. She recently graduated with her Masters degree in Special Education from Columbia, Teachers College in NYC, however, she is a huge Hoya fan from her undergrad years! Miss Sparg is new to Maryland and is having a blast being a part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and exploring Annapolis. Miss Sparg loves the water, especially the beach, spending time with her family and friends, country music, and visiting DC on the weekends! She is very excited to be teaching at Millersville Elementary this year!
Miss Tallerico
Miss Tallerico graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2006. She is a huge Terps and Redskins fan! Miss Tallerico grew up in Edgewater, Maryland. She attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools throughout her childhood and is thrilled to be working at Millersville Elementary! She started working with children with autism in college and has had a passion for it ever since. In her spare time, Miss T enjoys being on the water, painting, and strolling in downtown Annapolis. Miss T loves travelling. Her favorite place of all is Venice, Italy. She is so excited to be here and is looking forward to a wonderful year.
Mrs. Parrish
Yvette Parrish is the Primary Special Education Teacher. She was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in France. She attended high school and college in Virginia. She has taught in many Anne Arundel County Schools. She is in her seventh year of teaching at Millersville Elementary. She lives in Annapolis with daughter and rambunctious West Highland Terrier. She is involved in many charitable and community organizations. She loves to shop, travel, cook and entertain.
Mrs. Halstad
Terry Halstad, better known as Mrs. H. to her students, is the Intermediate Special Educator at Millersville. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Towson University, her Master's Degree in Administration from Loyola College, and her Special Education Certification through Goucher College.
Terry loves teaching and is thrilled with her new learning cottage. The "Learning Zone" is large enough to house a reading and resource zone, listening zone, computer zone, and math, spelling, and writing zones to be sued during workshop time.
When not at Millersville, Terry enjoys spending time with her very active family. She lives in Millersville with her wonderful husband and three of her four fabulous sons; all four sons attended Millersville Elementary. this year, Terry's oldest son added a puppy to the "family tree" which everyone enjoys on weekends when they come to visit from their home in Belair. Terry also enjoys "girl time" with her future daughter-in-law, Jen. She says it's nice to have another female around after being surrounded by five guys for so long.
During the summer months and her free time, Terry enjoys traveling, surfing the internet, taking classes and of course shopping.
