Dear Parents –

What a wonderful year! This is the last of my monthly letters to
you. I have planned a great end to the year, so please read carefully. I
have made some changes from the plans I announced from the beginning.
I have told the children that we will be performing for the NCPC Sunday
evening church service on May 4. Please come for the Fellowship supper at
5:00 and then sty for the program at 6:30 that would be fine. The third
grade will open the evening service by doing a recitation and a song. If you
need to leave following that it is fine too. There will be a special program
for the children. I think everyone will enjoy the evening.
There is another opportunity to hear the BELL CHOIR of Harford
Christian School on Wednesday MAY 14 AT 7pm HERE AT THE CHURCH BUILDING.
There will NO HOMEWORK so you can come and enjoy the evening. Please come.
We are going to the Steppingstone museum next Thursday. I need for
you to bring a dirty white sock to wash a something to throw into the stew
for lunch. (meat, carrots , potatoes etc see list on next page.)
We are going on three special field trips, one to the Aberdeen Planetarium on
Thursday May22 , another to Walters Art Gallery on June 5, and a last a trip
to Quarryville nursing home to perform our year’s learning to the residents
on May 15. Miss Bobbi will be there. If you can come along to any of these
I am sure you will learn a lot and have a lot of fun too. We will be going
to the planetarium at no cost and the art gallery on June 6 free for adults.
The planetarium trip is on a Thursday. We will leave at 8:45and be back at
2:30 for dismissal. Come if you can.
Our memory work is also different from my initial plan. We will end the year
learning from the Children’s Catechism, #80-104 involving the Ten
Commandments. If you need a catechism book, let me know and I will send one
home to you We are also going to review the memory passages from the
beginning of the year so as to make sure each child will always remember
them. What great scripture passages we have ALL learned. Thank you for your
work with your child.
The planet projects are due on Wednesday, May 7. These will be oral reports
and will begin at 1:30AM if you would like to come and listen to them. The
planet reports we are doing in class are outstanding. I was very pleased
with each report. I think you will be pleased with them when they come home.
I have decided to end the year with a Romanfest. I want the students to do
what they did for the Greekfest last fall. Each child will be asked to give
an ORAL report on one person or event or special feature from the 1000-year
period of the Roman Empire. We will dress as Romans and give our reports and
then eat a lunch “reclining at table”. I will think of a fun afternoon game
that is Roman in flavor and we will enjoy the end of the Roman Rule. I am
still working on the date because of finals.
I think they will really enjoy what I have planned for them.
Soli Deo Gloria,
