Who can hold and event or fund raiser?

Any approved organization in the school can hold an event or fund raiser. An
event form must be completed. Check with the Activities and Athletic Manager
(AAM) to secure a date. The AAM's office is located across the hall form the
Bookkeeper and the cafeteria Annex. Submit the form to the Administration for
event approval. The form is then submitted to the General Assembly for final
discussion and approval. Forms can be found on the FORMS page.

When should the fund raising and event forms be submitted?

Since the General Assembly only meets once a month, all forms must be in early
enough to meet the meeting schedule. A good suggestion is to get all forms in
at least two months before the event. This will allow time for approval and
planning to ensure a successful event. Events and/or organizations that are
canceled within 30 days of the event risk the chance of having other events
approved.

Where do I turn in money from a fund raiser?

Once an event or fund raiser is approved, an account is established by the
Bookkeeper. Monies must be turned in the Bookkeeper each day. All accounts
must be reconciled and closed at the end of the event and fund raiser. The
Bookkeeper's office is located next to the annex to the cafeteria. Accounting
forms, reconciliation forms, and deposit forms can be found on the FORMS page.

How many fund raisers can my group hold?

Each organization is only allowed to hold 5 fund raisers a year. This means
that each group must look at the amount of money the group wants to raise for
the year and plan accordingly. Fund raisers should be designed to gain the
audience, time, and money that will make the event a success. Planning is the
key to successful fund raising events.

What is the stucture of the Student Government?

All student organizations are to have representatives that attend the monthly
General Assembly meetings. Each class has 5 elected officers. Each club must
also choose a representative to serve on the General Assembly. The Executive
Board has 7 elected officers to serve on the General Assembly. Only the
elected class officers and Executive Board members can vote at the General
Assembly. Club representatives can participate in discussion for issues but
do not have a vote. Any class or club that does not have a representative on
the General Assembly risk not having an event or fund raiser approved the the
General Assembly.

How do I start a club?

If you want to start a club, you must first find an advisor. Once the advisor
is found, you must establish your guidelines for the club. This includes your
purpose, meeting times, dates, and how your officers (or representatives) will
be chosen. This must be submitted to the administration and the Executive
Board of SGA. Once the administration and SGA Executive Board give the
initial approval, the proposal is then brought before the General Assembly for
final approval. The club representative is then expected to attend the
General Assembly meetings each month.

When are elections held?

Elections for SGA Executive Board positions are usually held the end of April.
The Class officer elections are held in May. This allows students that did
not get chosen for the Executive Board a chance to run for class office. You
cannot hold offices for both class and Executive Board. You must obtain a
petition to run. Once the petition has been completed and submitted, the
student can then begin campaigning. All campaign material must be approved by
advisor or designated person before posting.
