The State and National Standards used in "Fat Facts" are listed below:

Maryland State Content Standards for Language Arts (8)
•	Reading:
o	  Comprehension and Interpretation of Informational Text
	Students will draw inferences, conclusions, or generalizations about 
text and support them with textual evidence and experience.
•	Writing:
o	  Informational Writing
	Students will write reports for an intended audience and purpose.
•	Convey a clear and accurate perspective on the subject.
•	Support the main ideas with facts, details, examples, and 
explanations.
o	 Persuasive Writing
•	Students will write to persuade an intended audience by selecting an 
appropriate form.
	Supports arguments with detailed evidence, examples, and reasoning.
Maryland Content Standards for Science (8)
•	Skills and Processes
o	  Scientific Inquiry	
	Students will use appropriate instruments when making measurements 
and collecting data.
	Students will analyze and summarize data to identify trends and form 
a logical argument about a cause and effect relationship or a sequence of 
events.

NHES National Standards for Physical Education and Health (5-8)
•	Health Advocacy
o	5-8.7.5  Advocate for Personal, Family, and Community Health
	Students will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively when 
advocating for healthy individuals, families and schools.


NCHS National Standards for History, United States and World History (5-12)
•	Historical Thinking
o	5.5  Historical Issues-Analysis and Decision-making
	Students engage in historical issues-analysis and decision making.
•	Formulate a position or course of action on an issue by identifying 
the nature of the problem, analyzing the underlying factors contributing to 
the problem, and choosing a plausible solution from a choice of carefully

ISTE Technology Standards 
•	Technology Foundation Standards for Students
o	3.2   Technology Productivity Tools
	Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase 
productivity, and promote creativity.
	Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing

works.
