TAG-Grades 4 & 5

The curriculum for TAG students this year will be centered on a study of the lives and contributions of creative people.  Higher level thinking and advanced research skills are stressed throughout the unit.

Another segment this year is a unit on Applied Creative Thinking.  This unit identifies and develops the skills of effective problem solving.

The Junior Great Book Discussion Program is an opportunity for students to develop skills of interpretive reading and critical thinking.  It is hoped that students will develop an increased appreciation for literature and learn to participate in in-depth discussions.  Selections have been chosen for the literary merit and because they are excellent sources of multiple meanings.

Guide Independent Study is included again this year.  This provides the students the opportunity to apply skills developed during the year to a topic of intense personal interest.  Students select the topic and work through a series of ten steps to conduct an in-depth investigation of the chosen topic.

Write a Book is another opportunity for students to display their creativity and talents.  All TAG students are required to participate by writing a book.

If you have any questions, please contact me at school or through email (Delore.Missouri@pgcps.org). We are looking forward to a very productive, challenging, and successful year.
