FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Class work is graded with a star, plus, check plus, and check. A star means it was done perfectly. A plus means it is well done with some mistakes, 1-3. a check plus means it was done ok, but there were several errors. A check means they did it, but it was incorrect. Book reports will be due on designated dates on this sight. There are approximately 2 reports per quarter, however the children may read more if they wish. The book report slips are on this sight under Book Reports. Just download them, complete the form, and hand it in. What pattern is in this week's spelling test? This will be updated periodically. How are the final math grades calculated? In my class, I put more weight on the weekly quizzes since they are more comprehensive. Quizzes count as 50% of the math grade, class work counts as 25% of the math grade, and the unit tests count as 25% of the math grade. All homework is checked for completion, however it is only graded when it is specifically specified in the students'assignment books. What do the red X's mean in the students' assignment books. Our discipline policy in third grade is "Three strikes you're out!" If you see a red X in your child's assignment book, they're suppose to tell you why they got the X. If they get3 X's in a week, you will receive a phone call from me. What are Troilo tickets and what are they used for? Troilo tickets are reward dollars that I give out when I catch them doing something good! They also get tickets for good class work, homework, test performance, and clean desks. If they have a good week, I have an open Troilo Market where they can use their dollars to buy raffle tickets for small prizes. I also have 3 mystery envelopes (they don't always like what they get.) They can buy tickets for a specific raffle, or save them until the end of the year for a special treat. |
