Welcome to my website. I come here from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. I
was born on September 24, 1959 in a small town called Vandergrift.
Incidentally, Vandergrift is very close to Springdale which is the town
where Rachel Carson grew up.I am a graduate of Indiana University of
Pennsylvania where I received a B.S. in Elementary Education as well as an
M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. I also participated on the varsity
women's Swimming team at IUP.
This is my 28th year teaching, 17 years in Kindergarten/7th & 8th grades, 1
year in 1st and 5th grades, 7 years in 3rd grade, and I have returned to 5th
grade for my 3rd year at Rachel Carson.
Recently, I moved to Frederick, Maryland. The commute is longer, but the
mountains are beautiful! I was a varsity swimming coach in charge of both
the boys' and girls' varsity teams as well as the head coach of a United
States Sanctioned age group team. These teams produced several all star
swimmers, state finalists, and national-level swimmers including national
finalists. I have finally returned to coaching swimming. I coach for RMSC
(Rockville Montgomery Swim Club) at the South Germantown Swimplex.
Also, I am an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan. Go Steelers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go
Penguins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mission is for my class to be a community of life long learners as well
as to create a motivating learning environment for all of my students. I
think it is important to instill in the children the importance of
recognizing and respecting our likes and our differences.
