I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten at Rachel Carson again this
year. I was born and raised in New Jersey, moved down here for college, and
never moved back. I graduated from the University of Maryland (GO TERPS!)
with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. I started telling people I wanted
to be a kindergarten teacher when I was in kindergarten. I don't think there
are many people that know what they want to do at age 5 and actually follow
through with it. Teaching is my passion and I am thrilled to be in this
profession. In my spare time I love to paint, knit, scrapbook, hike, spend
time with my friends, cheer on the Capitals, and cook. I am also an avid
traveler. I love using my summers to take major trips. One of the trips I
talk about the most in class is the month I spent in Costa Rica living in
the rainforest and volunteering on a sea turtle reserve. I also spent two
summers chaperoning 40 teenagers all over the US and Canada. I have been
lucky enough to see South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, California, Nevada, Arizona,
Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, and Hawaii. What a blast! This
summer I did a lot more running around than traveling, but I am excited to be
planning my wedding! I am also currently working on completing my Master's
degree in Teaching and Learning and Technology. It's going to be a fantastic
year and I can't wait for it all to start!
A work in progress...
