Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions.
I was absent...what did I miss?
When you return from an absence, please visit the Absent Center (located in the back of the classroom). Materials that can be found in the Absent Center include Repasitos, classwork/homework worksheets, vocabulary notes, and test/quiz announcements. Items not found in the Absent Center include textbook assignments, grammar notes, and tests/quizzes. Grammar notes are always given via powerpoint and are posted on this website for you. If you keep an up-to-date Papel de Trabajo (Assignment Sheet), it's easy to catch up!Back to Top
If you are not SEATED in your assigned seat BEFORE the bell BEGINS to ring, you are late.Back to Top
Yes! I have lessons planned for your class EVERYDAY. If you wish to know what we will accomplish during the lesson, please refer to the objective written on the board.Back to Top
Are you collecting this/How many points is this worth?
As stated in the CPP document, I expect all of my students to put forth their very best effort on every given assignment. You should know that I DO NOT answer this question as I find it irrelevant. You are expected to complete each assignment with as much focus & effort as you can give...regardless of whether it is a graded assignment or not.Back to Top
Can I use my iPod/MP3 player or cell phone?
As per RHS policy, electronic devices are to be turned off, put away, and kept out of sight until 2:10. Violation of this policy results in confiscation of the device & a parent will need to pick it up from the front office at a later time.Back to Top
I'm just going to the water fountain...do I need my Agenda Book?
Yes. Anytime you leave the classroom, you must carry your Agenda Book with you. Please be sure to fill out the Hall Pass portion of the Agenda Book & obtain my signature. If you leave the room without my permission, disciplinary action will result.Back to Top
My answer to this question is almost always YES. I believe that you have the right to use the restroom whenever you need. If I am busy the moment you need to use the restroom, I may ask you to wait a minute or two. Once I am free to sign your Agenda Book, I will. I do not count the number of times you go to the restroom per Quarter, nor will I deny you bathroom use. If, however, I find that you are using bathroom excuses to go elsewhere in the building, you will be assigned a bathroom buddy who will accompany you to the restroom to be sure that you do not get "lost" along the way.Back to Top
Absolutely NOT. I expect students to arrive to class on time & prepared. Prepared means that you bring supplies & completed assignments. You may not leave the room during the period to get your work. You may not submit the work later in the school day. In the case of a legal absence, you may submit your completed work. Please refer to the CPP for further details on absent work.Back to Top
My homework is half done...can I get half credit?
No. Homework in my class is graded based on completion, not accuracy. I'd much rather you attempt to complete the work, than get frustrated & give up! If your homework is complete, you earn full credit. If your homework is incomplete, you earn a zero. Please do not expect to earn full credit on a homework assignment for which you've completed 9 out of 10 questions. 9 out of 10 is incomplete, so you will earn a zero.Back to Top
Yes. Extra credit may be earned on chapter tests. Each chapter test includes 1 or 2 extra credit questions (usually culture- based). You must answer the question accurately & completely in order to earn credit.Back to Top
