This is my 11th year at River Hill. Before teaching at River Hill I taught
for three years at Mayfield Woods Middle School. I graduated from Towson
State with a BS in Natural Science.
Eight years ago I completed my MS in Technology from Johns Hopkins
University . I was a participant in the Teach to the Future program
sponsored by Intel. In the spring of 2003 I was awarded Howard County's
Technology Use Teacher of the Year. In 2008 I was humbled to be awarded
Teacher of the Year by the Class of 2008.
I proudly served as co-sponsor of the class of 2008, which won first
place in the float contest for three years. This year I will be the co-class
sponsor for the Class of 2013.
My passions in science include all types of Turtles, except Snapping
Turtles. I love making our classroom a learning lab which is fun,
motivating, exciting, and challenging for all of my students.
In my busy personal life I am married with two sons. The oldest is James,
born in February, 2005. His younger brother, William, was born in Spring,
2007. Life has changed so much and so positively for me in the past four
years. Having children changes your perspective on life and gives life
added rich meaning. I believe that continues to make me a dedicated teacher
and learner who is eager to open the exciting world of Earth Science up to
her students.
