When is homework due?

The blue homework folder will come home regularly with
homework that is due the next day. Please do not empty these
folders until Friday, sometimes there may be things we have not
corrected or finished. Please let your child do their own work,
however, if they do not understand the directions or concepts,
feel free to review it with them. If you find your child is
completely lost, please write a note. Together, we can help
them become more independent.

As a reminder, students need to read and practice math facts
nightly. Reading with your child will enable you to help them
with reading fluency, decoding words, studying for tests, and
most importantly, you will know what we are covering in school
daily.

What should I pack for snack?

Please pack only one item for snack. Make it healthy, brain
food (nuts, fruit, yogurt, veggie sticks, etc.). The children
may have a water bottle at their desks all day, so no snack
drink is necessary. Please keep the amount of sugar treats to a
minimum.

How do I place a Scholastic book order online?

Forms will be sent home approximately once a month. If you
choose to order books, make checks payable to the individual
book companies. Please do not send cash. The "Links" page has
the link to order online. You can find our class user name and
password there, as well.

May I send in a birthday treat?

Students may bring in a healthy treat for the class when
celebrating their birthday. We have 28 students in our class.
The students will not be passing out treats to people outside of
our classroom. We will be celebrating summer birthdays in
September, May, and June. You can send in a note to reserve a
day.

How do I sign up to send in treats for special occasions throughout the year?

Two to three parents are needed to coordinate healthy treats
for special occasions. A list of days will be provided by the
head room parents. It is important that all families are given
a chance to participate. We will need a healthy treat and
drink. The items can be dropped off in the morning or sent in
with your child.

When should I send a note with my child?

If your child is going home with another student or being
picked up by someone else, we need a note to dismiss your child
appropriately.

It is important that you request and pick up classwork and
homework when your child is absent. Upon returning to school,
your child should have a note explaining the absence.
