I am a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with a major in Elementary
Education and Art, and am presently working on my Maryland State
Certification. I have taught children from preschool through eigth grade,
as well as adults. This is my fifth year at St. Bernadette School and my
fourth year in the library. My greatest pleasure is that I have the
opportunity to know all the children who attend St. Bernadette School and
watch them grow each year.
I was a struggling reader growing up until a Middle School librarian took me
under her wing and invited me to volunteer in the library during my study
hall periods. She opened my world to authors such as Laura Ingalls Wilder,
C.S. Lewis, Roald Dahl, Louisa May Alcott, Madeleine L'Engle, and E.B. White
and I was hooked on books from that timw on. I hope I can repay the
librarian who sparked my interest in reading by inspiring St. Bernadette
children to read and explore the wonderful and exciting adventures found in
a book.
Encourage the children to realize that a book can be a friend, take them to
exotic and unknown places and teach them about topics they know nothing
about!
