Dear Parents:
Well, we are almost there. Where did the year go? I hope that you have
enjoyed this year as much as I have. Although it has been a challenging year,
I always feel that third grade is one of the most productive and enlightening
years in elementary school. I guess that is why I have loved teaching this
grade, thus far. The curriculum presents many new skills and opportunities
for your child to grow and develop into a critical thinker. During third
grade, parents really begin to see their children's academic potential and
work so hard to foster it. What a great boost to their working knowledge and
self esteem! Socially, new relationships are formed and girls and boys begin
to grow more confident in their ability to make friends. In Art, Music,
Computers, and PE the children are beginning to be able to perform at higher
levels and feel proud of their newfound abilities. All in all, as Charlotte
spun in her web, Third Grade is "terrific"!
This year, I have tried very hard to instill religious traditions in the
children. We have said the rosary every day during October and May. We have
learned the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and said that each day during the
month of April. Crowning Mary, Advent promises, prayer intentions each
day,and our special prayer for the souls in purgatory ("Eternal Father")have
been just a few of the ways we have maintained our Catholic identity here in
the classroom. Please continue these traditions in your home whenever
possible and especially remember to take your children to Mass each Sunday,
whether it be at home or while on vacation. The message that you send them
with regard to their faith is POWERFUL! Thank you to those who already
maintain these traditions in your home. It is quite evident here in the
classroom!
Most of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the
bottom of my heart, for all the guidance that you have given your children
this year, and for all of the support that you have given me. You cannot
imagine how grateful I am for that. It has made my job so much easier and has
given me the opportunity to fulfill my responsibilities here in the
classroom.
Have a wonderful summer - I will miss seeing you all next year! Please
pray for me as I will continue to pray for you. Keep in touch whenever
possible. I always enjoy receiving emails about former students. Believe me
that each child holds a special place in my heart. Best wishes for continued
success in all that you do!
Gratefully yours,
Mrs. May
