The week of March 15, 2010 is Terra Nova testing. Please don't schedule
doctor appointments or plan to go out of town that week.

Here are some tips that may help your child:
1. Get a good night's sleep the night before the testing.
2. Eat a good breakfast every morning. Include some protein.
3. Bring a snack in every day.
4. Encourage your child to take his/her time when taking the test.
5. Make sure your child has two #2 sharpened pencils.

TERRA NOVA TEST TAKING TIPS:
1. The majority of the questions are multiple choice. When answering these
types of questions, answer all that you know comfortably first. Then go back
over the section of the test you are on and work on those questions that were
more difficult.
2. Read ALL of the answer choices, even if you think you know the answer.
3. On A,B,C, or "all of the above" choices, read each choice. CLUE: the
longest option is often correct; the most complete answer is often correct.
4. For question completion, use these strategies:
     a. If blanks are of different lengths, use the length of each blank as
a clue in writing the correct answer.
     b. Read the questions to yourself so you can "hear" what is being asked.
     c. Make sure the answer fits grammatically and makes sense.
