--------------------------------------
Is there a word bank in Vocab?
Yes and no. Sixth grade will have a word bank for the first three quarters
only, and then I will gradually remove the word bank in the fourth quarter.
The 7th grade will begin the year with testing on definitions without a word
bank. They also will be tested on synonyms and antonyms with a word bank for
the first semester. In the second semester 7th graders will use five words
in sentences, identify synonyms or antonyms with a word bank (the word bank
will be gradually removed fourth quarter) and identify 10 definitions.
--------------------------------------
Am I marked down for spelling in my Vocab homework or tests?
Spelling always counts. 7th grade is marked down 1/2 point for each
misspelled word on the test first semester only. In the second semester it
is a full point off. 6th grade is marked down a full point for each word
misspelled because they have a word bank. For both 6th and 7th grade, there
is 1 point off each misspelled word on the vocab homework, and 1/2 point for
each word written incorrectly in the fill-in-the-blank sentences (i.e., not
changing verb tenses to match the sentence).
--------------------------------------
If I fail a Vocab test, can I make up the work?
For the 1st quarter only, if you are below 70 you may write your missed words
and correct definitions, along with a sentence using the word. It must be
turned in to me with your failed test the next day in order to be counted.
No exceptions.
--------------------------------------
Do I have to get my tests signed?
Usually, tests below 85 must be signed and shown to me, but sometimes I
require everyone to get their test signed.
