ART FACTS:

SEVEN ELEMENTS OF DESIGN:
LINE SHAPE COLOR VALUE TEXTURE FORM SPACE
LINE is a mark made by a pointed tool-brush,pencil,stick,pen,etc.-and is often defined as a moving dot. It has length and width. A line is created by the movement of a tool and pigment, and often suggests movement in a drawing or painting. Lines have names that describe their place in space. Lines may be diagonal, vertical or horizontal. Lines may be thick or thin, solid or broken. Lines may be bent into curves.
SHAPE is an area that is made by one or more of the other elements. Because they have only the two dimensions of height and width, shapes are flat. A shape can be created by joining a continuous line with itself of by joining several lines.
